چکیده

Introduction Adequate nutrition is critical for successful reproductive function. Inadequate dietary energy intake and poor body condition can negatively affect reproductive function. Supplemental lipids have been used to increase the energy density of the diet and avoid negative associative effects often experienced with cereal grains (Coppock and Wilks, 1991; Bowman and Sanson, 1996). Supplemental lipids may also have direct positive effects on reproduction in beef cattle independent of the energy contribution.

Fat supplementation and reproduction in beef females.

Inadequate dietary energy intake and poor body condition can negatively affect reproductive function. Supplemental lipids have been used to increase energy density of the diet and may also have direct positive effects on reproduction in beef cattle. Several fatty acid sources have been studied as they relate to reproductive function. Common sources include sunflower, safflower, cottonseed, rice...

Long chain fatty acids of diet as factors influencing reproduction in cattle.

Cattle are fed moderate amounts of long chain fatty acids (FA) with the objective to enhance lactation and growth; however, recent interest on lipid feeding to cows has focused on reproduction, immunity and health. Increasing the caloric density of the ration by fat feeding has generally improved measures of cow reproduction, but when milk yield and body weight losses were increased by fat supp...

Dietary n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid supplementation alters the expression of genes involved in the control of fertility in the bovine uterine endometrium.

The potential for dietary supplementation with n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFA) to improve reproductive efficiency in cattle has received much interest. The mechanisms by which n-3 PUFA may affect physiological and biochemical processes in key reproductive tissues are likely to be mediated by significant alterations in gene expression. The objective of this study was to examine the ef...
